Meet the Founder

Campspire was founded by Iris Wu, a passionate youth educator and psychology scholar dedicated to helping children learn through exploration, curiosity, and fun. Based in La Cañada, Pasadena, and Los Angeles, Iris brings years of hands-on experience with children of all ages to create a camp program that blends learning, play, and growth in every adventure.

About Iris

Iris is a third-year Psychology major at UCLA, projected to graduate in March 2026 with a focus on child development and learning. Her studies in child psychology, developmental theory, and behavior analysis are matched by extensive real-world experience.

She has served as:
• A summer camp counselor for children ages 3–12 and middle-school youth
• A mentor and activity leader for special-education high-school students
• A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) working with children with autism ages 2–12 and training new hires in applied behavior analysis

Altogether, Iris has worked with children from 3 months to 14 years old, gaining a deep understanding of early childhood through adolescence.

Her Mission

Iris created Campspire to provide children with hands-on experiences that nurture their social, emotional, and cognitive growth. She believes that childhood should be filled with discovery — and that the best learning happens when kids are engaged, curious, and having fun.

Campspire activities help children:
• Build confidence through teamwork and play
• Strengthen communication and problem-solving skills
• Develop independence and curiosity
• Grow social-emotional and neurocognitive abilities such as focus, creativity, memory, and flexible thinking

Her Approach

Iris blends professional expertise with genuine compassion and creativity. Her leadership style is rooted in patience, flexibility, and empathy — creating an atmosphere where every child feels valued, supported, and free to explore.

All Campspire programs are guided by a strong commitment to safety, structure, and developmental value. Every activity is prescreened through a safety and engagement checklist, parents are kept fully informed, and all transportation is provided in a spacious, clean, and comfortable 8-seater minivan.
